Mango Spinach Smoothie

I think this Mango Spinach Smoothie is just what the doctor ordered..., Dr. Oz that is. It tastes delicious, (yes - even with the spinach), but it's also good for your eyes. Mangoes are my favorite fruit of all time.

When we were little, my grandmother would send boxes of them to Ohio from Florida. My father would peel them and cut them up for us. I still remember the sticky, sweet, juicy, orange-colored flesh of the mangoes...., soo good. One of my most vivid childhood memories. Yum!

    The Recipe

    2 cups fresh spinach, washed
1 banana, frozen (I cut mine into chunks before I freeze them)
1 cup peeled and chopped mango
    6 natural almonds
1 cup fat free soy or rice milk
1 cup fat free vanilla yogurt

    A Healthy Kitchen

According to Dr. OZ, "...when mango and spinach are combined in a smoothie, the body’s ability to absorb their antioxidants, particularly lutein and xanthein, TRIPLES!

This is good news since together these nutrients reduce the risk of cataracts by 72 percent and lower the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) by 67 percent.

Why not try this delicious and healthy smoothie with your favorite breakfast sandwich.
