Peanut Butter Banana Dog

What's a Peanut Butter Banana Dog anyway? Do your kids love hotdogs? Do they love peanut butter and banana sandwiches? Well, why not combine the two. Take their favorite hotdog buns, add peanut butter, and a banana, and you've got yourself a peanut butter banana dog.

Recipe:
For each sandwich:
1 hotdog bun
Peanut butter
1 small banana, peeled (or large banana, peeled and cut in half to fit bun)
1 tsp strawberry jam (optional)
1 T chopped apples (optional)

Leave bun as is or lightly toast according to your little one's (or your) preference. Spread with peanut butter on both sides. Place banana in bun. If using the jam, spread a line of jam on banana – just like you would ketchup. If using apples, sprinkle them on top of banana and jam – like you would cheese or onions.

This is a great summer meal for the times when you don't want to cook. (Especially during heat waves). Add a cold, pineapple yogurt smoothie, and some cucumber chips and you have a delicious summer meal. I think I know what I'm giving my granddaughter for lunch tomorrow. And I just my join her.

Do you have any no-cook, cool summer sandwich recipes you like to eat during the height of the summer heat? We'd love to try them out. Go ahead. Use the form below to share them with us.
