It's also quick and easy to make. Your whole family will love them. Try them out at your next cook-out and see if they don't make a big hit.

I found this recipe in an old Better Homes & Gardens cookbook. It's a little dated, but it's still a neat little sandwich just the same. Make a few substitutions (you can see mine in parenthesis), and voila! - a great sandwich for lunch, or a casual Sunday night supper = as the original recipe suggests.

Here's the recipe:

    2/3 cup pizza sauce
8 slices bread (I'd probably use French or Italian bread)
4 large or 8 small slices salami (or pepperoni)
4 slices sharp process American cheese (you can substitute mozzerella)
Garlic salt or salt (or garlic powder)
    Soft butter or margarine

    1. Spread pizza sauce on one side of each bread slice.
    2. Top 4 slices with salami slices, then with cheese; sprinkle with garlic salt.
    3. Add remaining bread, sauce side down.
    4. Generously butter top and bottom of sandwiches.
    5. Grill both sides on griddle, sandwich grill, or in a skillet until sandwiches are toasted and cheese melts.

    Serves 4
